design with a story
What does that mean? Well, it means two things: 1) design with a story, and 2) design with a story (the complications of the English language, I know). As shown, the emphasis is two-fold.
All designs have a behind-the-scenes story about how they came to be. About how all the stakeholders and decision makers influenced, for the better or for the worse, the eventual results of the campaign.
The flip side of that coin is that all good design must tell a story. We should look at a campaign and figure out what it’s attempting to accomplish. Is it selling a product, a service, a feeling? Your target audience will never be hit, unless you understand how to
design with a story.

layout & design
Illustration, digital design, & layout
While illustration is my first love, I found I had a knack for layout and copy editing. My English literature and instructional writing experience, became a secret weapon that I used to create strong storyboards and punchy designs.

Photography, for me, tells the stories that illustration can’t. The stories of abandoned properties around the corner from hidden gems that color the landscape of the area, and show what was and will be.
